Three people, one test bench, zero sponsored scores.

Invincible You is an independent PC gaming magazine published by Meridian Play Media Ltd from a small studio in London. We started in 2021 with one rule that still decides everything we publish: finish the game before you score it.

Our story

From a shared spreadsheet of benchmark runs to a magazine read across three continents.

Invincible You began in early 2021 as a shared document between three friends who kept arguing about graphics settings. Mara tracked review scores across outlets and noticed how rarely they moved after day-one patches. Devon ran a repair bench and had strong opinions about which "optimization" advice was snake oil. Jonas built PCs for local clients and kept a log of every first-boot failure he'd ever fixed.

The document became a blog, the blog became a publication, and in 2023 we registered Meridian Play Media Ltd to run it properly — with an editorial policy, a corrections log, and a firewall between advertising and scores. We buy our own review copies and hardware samples. When a PR agency sends us something anyway, we disclose it in the piece.

Five years in, the rule hasn't changed: every scored review on this site was written after the credits rolled. If a game collapses in its third act, you'll read about the collapse — not about a polished first ten hours.

Editorial promise: no sponsored scores, no affiliate links in reviews, and a public corrections note on any article we change after publication.

The team

Everyone here writes, benchmarks, and answers reader mail.

Mara Ellison, Senior Editor of Invincible You

Mara Ellison

Senior Editor

Founded the site after six years covering games retail. Writes most of the long-form reviews and keeps the corrections log honest. Currently on her fourth Baldur's Gate 3 honour run.

Devon Okafor, Hardware Editor of Invincible You

Devon Okafor

Hardware Editor

Runs the test bench and owns the frame-time graphs. Previously repaired gaming laptops for a living, which is where the optimization guides come from. Allergic to the phrase "future-proof".

Jonas Whitfield, Contributing Builder at Invincible You

Jonas Whitfield

Contributing Builder

Has assembled over 300 gaming PCs for clients and documented every mistake worth learning from. Writes the build guides and the monthly news digest. Believes cable management is a personality trait.

The studio

Where the benchmarks happen — four desks, a shelf of board games, and a very patient neighbours' agreement about fan noise.

The Invincible You studio: desks with dual monitors, posters and a bookshelf

Our test bench runs a documented, fixed configuration for hardware comparisons, and we retest older conclusions whenever a major driver or patch lands. If you're choosing between two GPUs or wondering whether a setting is worth its frame cost, that's the work we're proudest of.

Questions, corrections, or a game you think we scored wrong? Write to us — reader mail has changed at least two verdicts so far, and both times we published the correction.
